From inside the house the large windows provide aesthetically pleasing views to the garden rooms, water features and focal areas within the garden. The garden has been designed considering six garden rooms.
Garden Room One is an outdoor entertaining area featuring signature French-patterned bluestone paving, a retractable awning, and an outdoor kitchen. An existing Japanese maple tree within the space provides shade as well as vibrant autumn foliage colours, further enhancing this outdoor experience.
A tranquil and relaxing atmosphere in Garden Room Two is created by the cascading waterfall and ponds with floating bridge incorporating semi aquatic and aquatic plants within and around the water body. The water garden offers a calming and serene vista from both inside and outside the home, while also connecting to the living area.
The third garden room features an outdoor lawn terrace surrounded by an exotic and perennial garden. This green and calming space is ideal for play as well as stretching out and relaxing on the lush grass. Traditional plantings of roses, foxgloves, Japanese windflowers and other seasonal flowers create a colourful landscape. The exotic and perennial flora provides consistent visual interest alongside bursts of colours that change with the seasons.
The silver birch walk creates a link from the dwelling street entry and to the rear garden rooms with existing silver birch trees remaining and providing an established look and the signature textured white colour bark you admire as passing. The understory green foliage plants including ferns and the like is a create understory cover that leads to the water garden theme.
Garden Room Four is a productive garden that creates a private space for seating to admire the mixed planting palette with the productive plants such as herbs, vegetable and espaliered fruit trees. An ornate fence and arbour gate leads you to this garden from the rear utilities space that is equipped with custom design and built garden shed timber compost bins feature screen to disguise the bins and garden surround.
The fifth garden room is an internal courtyard flanked on three sides by wall-to-ceiling glass, providing spacious views from the kitchen and access hallways. There is a front entry into the courtyard garden, which features a pond filled with aquatic plants, a world-renowned sculpture by Brom, and Japanese-inspired plantings and stonework. A tranquil ambiance is created at night through strategically placed garden lighting.
The sixth garden room features an outdoor kitchen area with floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking a serene fern garden. This peaceful space contains tree ferns, native violets, and other shade-loving plants that provide a soothing backdrop for relaxing and enjoying meals outside.
Bluestone pavers provide pedestrian access through the garden. Mist-spraying irrigation heads both water the plants and create a surprise water feature, adding visual interest. Low-level ambient lighting throughout the garden provides illumination while maintaining a restful, natural atmosphere in the evening hours.
The overall planting scheme for the garden aims to combine Australian native flora with exotic species. The use of various plant species create floral blooms across all seasons, maintaining visual interest and biodiversity within the garden.
